About

The TACD IP Policy Committee is part of the The Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD), a forum of US and EU consumer organisations which develops and agrees on joint consumer policy recommendations to the US government and European Union to promote the consumer interest in EU and US policy making.

The TACD was launched in September 1998, at the end of the inaugural meeting which took place in Washington. So far, a total of 49 EU and 27 US consumer organisations have joined the TACD and participate mainly through membership of the Policy Committees. TACD also has observer members.

David Hammerstein represents that TACD IP Policy Committee in Brussels. David is a former MEP from Spain.

The current co-chairs of the TACD IP Policy Committee are Jill Johnstone from UK Consumer Focus and James Love from Knowledge Ecology International.

The TACD Secretariat is situated within the Office of Consumers International, coordinated by Julian Knott.
